This trailer was an absolute blast to make. I was fortunate enough to have the help of incredibly talented friends. Lasse Borgos photographed and edited the film, Matthew Wiewel of Deadpan Studios did the sound design, and Bobby Fraser created the haunting synth score. I also had the acting (and making out talents) of Sam and Stephanie Long, Natalie Trudeau and my partner, Melanie McDonald.

Needless to say, I’m incredibly excited to create more content in the future.

Recently I had the pleasure of chatting with Leza Cantoral on her podcast, Get Lit With Leza. We talked about body horror, sexuality, fairy tales, horror as creative catharsis, and my collection, Nightmares in Ecstasy.

This was my first podcast appearance and I think it went pretty well! I’m not usually comfortable talking about my work publicly, but the format of Leza’s podcast is so informal and relaxed that my stage fright (pod fright?) was unfounded. I told her Get Lit is essentially made up of a series of tangents. It’s a unique formula that contributes to the show’s playful atmosphere and originality. If you get the chance, be sure to check out the other episodes. She has spoken to some truly talented and interesting guests.

My debut collection, Nightmares in Ecstasy, is out today! If you’re a fan of the films of David Cronenberg, the stories of Clive Barker, or the art of Junji Ito, you’ll likely find something to enjoy in these thirteen tales of body horror. In other news…

If you’re from my hometown of Sudbury, Ontario, I’m having a book launch party at the Sudbury Theatre Centre on October 28th. Doors open at 1:30 and the event runs from 2:00-5:00PM. There will be a reading, Q&A, short film screening, prizes, and a bunch of other weird shit. Honestly, I’m more nervous about doing this kind of thing in my own hometown than a horror convention abroad, like Killer Con. I’ll be praying to Gamba, the Devil-God of Evil, for his support and evil mojo.

On November 3rd, I’ll be participating in a reading at Dark Delicacies in Burbank alongside Daniel Knauf, Autumn Christian, John Skipp, Devora Gray, Jennifer Robin, and Laura Lee Bahr. I’m incredibly excited to spend some time in California, as well as to have the privilege of reading with such amazing and talented writers.

Events aside, I’ve been juggling multiple projects lately. I hope to finish a trailer for Nightmares in Ecstasy very soon. I’m also hard at work on a novella for Clash and several short stories.

Outside of writing, I’ve been reading quite a bit. I recently finished Autumn Christian’s Girl Like a Bomb, and I’m nearly finished Cody Goodfellow’s All Monster Action! Both books are incredible. There are writers you can hope to emulate, and then there’s these two, who operate on a different level altogether. They’re both literary shamans, demigods of the written word. And they’ve been immensely inspiring to me. I’ll write reviews as soon as I have the opportunity!

Once again, I want to thank everyone for their love and support. The reception surrounding the collection so far has been overwhelming in the best possible way. I can’t wait to share more of my stories with you in the near future.
